State of the art aircraft engine overhaul facility

Airmark Overhaul, Inc.

is a Florida based company, family owned and operated since 1975. Airmark is dedicated to the repair and overhaul of Continental Motors and Textron Lycoming opposed reciprocating aircraft engines.  With a 20,000 sq. ft., state of the art facility, FAA and EASA approvals, it is no wonder Airmark has earned the respect, customer satisfaction and a high degree of recognition within the General Aviation Industry Worldwide.

Airmark is committed to providing the highest quality aircraft engine overhauls that are backed by one of the best warranties in the industry.  A valued warranty is one that never has to be utilized by the customer.  Is it really worth the time and money to continually put the aircraft down because of warranty issues?  We maintain over 125 engine cores at all times to provide the customer with a minimal down-time quick exchange option.  All of our core engines are checked in under a work order, disassembled, inspected, bagged and preserved taking 2 weeks off the turn time for the exchange option.  Nowhere in our facility will you find piles of unidentifiable parts and engines laying around that can be scavenged for untraceable parts.  Each and every item is inspected and tagged appropriately.  You can have peace of mind knowing exactly where every part of your engine came from and that it has passed numerous stringent inspections.

Airmark will overhaul your engine utilizing the manufactures’ latest revision of the overhaul manual. We do not cut corners by overhauling to older manual revisions, which in the FAA’s eyes (FAA Memorandum dated August 13, 2010 and as of 2019 this industry concern still has not been addressed),  is perfectly legal and a common practice with other engine overhaul facilities.  Continental Motors has had a massive revision of their overhaul manuals beginning in 2016 so be sure whatever facility overhauls your engine, they state the manual revision they will be overhauling to.  Airmark also provides a complete work order packet documenting dimensions, fits, clearances and testing (can be up to 50 pages long depending on the engine).  Most shops will not provide a copy of their work order in fear that they will be discovered later for not complying with certain requirements such as newer (NDT) Non Destructive Testing inspection requirements and replacement parts guidelines by the manufactures.  Continental Motors incorporates minimum parts replacement in their new overhaul manuals and is not just a stand alone Service Bulletin any longer.

At Airmark, all NDT inspections are accomplished in house by a minimum Level II Inspector in accordance with the manufactures instructions.  This is one area other shops will overhaul to older overhaul manual revisions to skirt around this requirement.  If an engine overhaul facility is not rated to accomplish their own NDT Inspections it would be a good assumption that they are not inspecting your parts properly.

Dynamic balancing of your rotational parts is an important factor to consider. This reduces the fatigue experienced by the pilot, engine and airframe and produces a very smooth running engine.  Airmark dynamically balances every engine we overhaul.  Static Balancing of the pistons, piston pins and connecting rods are also accomplished on every engine Airmark overhauls.  Airmark has an environmentally controlled diagnostic test cell where every engine repaired and overhauled is run through its full range of parameters.  Other shops normally do not test run their engines or the engines are test run on a rig in the outdoor environment subject to contaminants and uncontrolled situations.  Every turbocharged engine is tested at Airmark with a turbocharger installed, not true with other facilities.

As an FAA Approved Repair Station and EASA European Approved Facility we are required to have the proper engine tooling, manuals, calibrated tools, testing facilities, trained technicians and proper housing such as a fully enclosed parts department and assembly work areas that are air-conditioned with an environmentally controlled atmosphere free of contaminants and humidity.  We utilize only EASA approved outside vendors so every engine repaired or overhauled is maintained to the same high-quality standards. We do not overhaul to one specification for one type of customer and then charge more if the engine is overhauled to another standard.   That is another reason you will not receive a documented work order paperwork packet from other engine overhaul facilities as they have many reasons to conceal and misrepresent their work.

Not All FAA Repair Stations Are Created Equal

You need to be educated as a consumer and know what to look and ask for.  Airmark’s precision workmanship, high levels of expertise and a quality assurance program, give you the peace of mind you deserve with every flight.
